Summary: The business of making native apps for mobile devices is dying, crushed by a fragmented market and restrictive business practices. The problems are so bad that the mobile web, despite its many technical drawbacks, is now a better way to deliver new functionality to mobiles. I think this will drive a rapid rise in mobile web development, largely replacing the mobile app business. This has huge implications for mobile operators, handset companies, developers, and users (…) via @Xavier83

A long-tail micro-payment system invented by the co-founder of The Pirate Bay to pay authors and artists for their downloadable files: That sounds both very smart and slightly ironic, doesn’t it?
I don’t know if this is THE next business model to make downloaded content profitable but it’s definitely a step into a new paradigm. As far as I’m concerned, I’m almost sure I’m going to use it: making it easy to pay for what you like can’t be a bad idea.

Today's youngest generation of online users are no longer interested in consuming long-form content like blogs, says the research. Instead, communication among teens tends to involve brief bursts of information, like a Facebook status update or a text message. Pew's findings state that only 14% of tweens and teens ages 12 to 17 now report that they blog, down from 25% only four years ago. They're also less interested in commenting on their friends' blogs, too, with only 52% reporting doing so, down from over three-quarters back in 2006.
